ABOUT THE ARTIST

I paint the the colorful spirits found in companion animals but even more, what I'm trying to do is not paint a "dog" or "cat" but that very real set of emotions we all share. My vehicle just happens to be in four legs.

Sometimes I'm painting sheer, unbridled happiness (which may be embodied in a grinning poodle!). At other times, I find that moment in time when everything was a discovery (a dog looking in a mirror for the very first time and seeing a wonderful reflection!).

So when people ask me what I paint, I always have to pause. The easy answer may be "dogs & cats" but that's just a very small part. I don't really care what "breed" a dog is - that's not really what I'm after. I care more about the animal's personality. (Which is portrayed in energetic purple for a high-energy dog or soft pastel for a gentle kitten but rarely a traditional nature-based brown).

I suppose that ultimately, if I could sum it up . . . I paint the lovely, colorful gift of life that is constantly changing, evolving, discovering and celebrating in all its beauty . . that just happens to show up in the body of a dog.
